About this workshop

Learn the ins and outs of design thinking the informative, experiential, and applicable way. Through this workshop, you'll be able to collaborate within teams to apply methods & tools to empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test using a real-world challenge.

What to expect: - An end-to-end design thinking application process with lecture/training from the instructor in between each step and team-based working sessions. - Working in teams to create physical prototypes of their solution ideas and gain experience taking a customer- and human-centered approach to solving problems.

Takeaways

  • Introduce participants to design thinking as a process for creative problem-solving using a mix of lecture, video, interactive exercises, and facilitated discussion.
  • Educate participants on all steps of the design thinking process as developed by the Stanford School: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test.
  • Expose participants to the various applications for design thinking across a variety of sectors.
  • Train participants in select design research, ideation, and prototyping methods.
  • Provide participants with in-workshop experience applying an end-to-end design thinking process to a notional yet universally shared challenge (example: reimagine the subway rider experience; reimagine the grocery store shopping experience).
  • Provide participants with experience using design thinking tools such as customer interview scripts, journey maps, personas, and other design thinking artifacts.
