Mathematicians make it possible to send secure emails and buy things online, and they are essential to analyse data. Mathematical research and education are at the heart of some careers, while other careers utilise mathematics or statistics and their applications to build and enhance important work in areas like business, finance, manufacturing, customer service, science & health, computer science, engineering, and communications.
With the evolution of computing, many areas have been opened up to mathematical advances - in finance, sports, agriculture, environmental studies, biology, weather simulation, medical diagnosis, image processing, for example – providing many new kinds of job opportunities.
General Assembly has teamed up with Careers with Maths; a new magazine that aims to smash stereotypes around maths. Hear from a panel of maths professionals and employers talking about future careers, including data science, analytics and education.
Afterwards you’ll be able to ask the speakers and the editors of Careers with STEM any questions you have about the careers of the future and how to get there. They’ll also be educators and employers in the audience.
