Wei Hong chanced upon the arts through the mesmerising world of somatics. With technical training in dance, gymnastics and martial arts, he ventured into choreography to explore local history or culture with youths through collaborative original works based on local ethnographic research or investigating seminal theories. Believing arts education as avenue to mould thoughts and actions, he has designed and implemented complementary multi-disciplinary arts curricula for educational institutions in Singapore and has been an accredited dance educator by Beijing Dance Academy since 2010. Concurrently, he produced for arts festivals and productions that brought international artists and audiences together in Singapore and China.
He received his Specialist Diploma in Arts Education from National Institute of Education (Singapore) and Master of Arts in Arts Pedagogy and Practice from Goldsmiths College (UK), presenting his research at ASEAN University Network in Culture and the Arts Research Forum at National University of Laos. He is a member of the International Society for Education through Art and International Dance Council.
Wei Hong currently leads the Creative Arts programming team while driving community building and digital transformation efforts at *SCAPE.
