    Shell Cleave

    Founder, Sea Hugger

    San Francisco

Shell is the Founder of Sea Hugger, a nonprofit organization based in Half Moon Bay, CA that works to protect and heal the marine environment from the devastation of plastic pollution. Shell owned a successful Technical Writing company for two decades, but after years of seeing increased plastic pollution on the surface, underneath, and adjacent to the water, she closed her business and started Sea Hugger in early 2018. Shell is a surfer, scuba diver, SUPer, and life-long beach picker upper. Shell has written a children’s book titled The Littlest Sea Hugger; penned an OpEd that was published in several regional newspapers called The Recycling Myth; and frequently speaks with schools, community organizations, and corporations about reducing their plastic footprint. She believes that we can change the plastic tide before the damage is irreparable if we are all willing to change a few habits, and Sea Hugger is here to help.
