Customer Experience Design Strategist, Premera Blue Cross

    Seattle

My name is Ryan Freeland and I am currently a Customer Experience Design Strategist at Premera Blue Cross. Specifically, I work cross-departmentally to ensure our members' touchpoints are sustainable and accessible by following customer-centered design best practices. I have been working in healthcare design/research for approximately five years and I am looking forward to viewing the continued progress made in this space.

I am passionate about ensuring solutions decrease barriers to information by including users throughout the design process. Further, I believe solutions should be equitable and address the needs of the target population. For the past four years, I have taught user-centered design and I am continuously inspired by my students' approaches to solving complicated problems. Ultimately, I aim to advocate and educate my students on diverse and inclusive design by believing the following statements: If we don't focus solutions that meet the needs of our most marginalized populations, then we are not designing; rather, we are creating further injustice.
