Nasir currently serves as a Senior Associate of Education Technology at Village Capital, a venture capital firm that sources, trains and invests in seed-stage entrepreneurs with business solutions to major global problems. Nasir is responsible for helping cohorts scale their businesses, connect with mentors and advisers, and gain exposure to investors. Nasir began his career as an Analyst at Goldman Sachs, where he served as a Municipal Sales Trader - helping finance colleges, universities, local and state governments focusing on infrastructure. He later worked as an Associate to State Street Corporation in variety capacities – Equities Trading, Equity Sales Research, and Corporate Turnaround. After his experience in the financial services industry, Nasir served as an Education Pioneer Fellow at the Connecticut State Department of Education in a appointed role as the Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Education leading the states Digital Learning and Infrastructure initiative, and creating new strategies to empower teachers and school leaders to improve persistently low-performing schools. Apart from his role at Village Capital, Nasir Co Chaired Senator Cory Booker’s Education Innovation Committee. He currently serves as Co Chair of BELL Nationals Young Leadership Council, Young Leadership Board for American Needs You - New York. In 2012 he was selected as a 2012 New Leaders Council Fellow. The Atlanta, GA native has committed to running 51 full marathons in each US state, including DC, in an effort to raise $100,000 in scholarship funding for first-generation college students, he has ran 14 marathons towards his goal. Nasir holds a Bachelors of Science from Hampton University, where he served as student body president.
