    Michael Lai

    Lead Instructor, General Assembly

    Melbourne

Michael is a trained scientist who decided to experiment with a career of solving problems outside of the lab. After spending many years helping people find answers to the hard questions in UX/CX/Service design in Taiwan, US, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, Michael is now taking the knowledge and experience accumulated over years of contract and consulting work into the classroom with General Assembly.

Having worked in a range of government, NGO and corporate environments, Michael has seen first-hand how design thinking has evolved in different types of organisations, teams and UX practitioners. He is active on UX StackExchange and enjoys swapping questions and answers with UX professional all around the world. His favourite UX topics are infographic/data visualisation design and ethics in design.

When not teaching, Michael likes to dabble in a range of hobbies and interests, including reading, writing, making miniature origami and micro-terrariums, playing touch football, basketball or tennis, settling disputes on civil tribunals (in QLD) and watching re-runs of The Shawshank Redemption.
