Matthew Garton is a data scientist with a background in derivatives trading. After finishing his undergraduate degree in Economics, he has worked as a trader for six years, gaining experience in market making as well as the hedge fund industry, while trading a number of different asset classes and various strategies. Having briefly studied programming in college and after some self-study of Python and R, Matt decided to enroll in General Assembly's Data Science Immersive to develop his technical skills further and learn how to apply more advanced quantitative methods to investment research and strategy. He graduated from DSI in November 2018 and now teaches introductory courses in Python and Data Science at General Assembly.
