Maryam set up her first company at the age of 18 focusing on changing consumer’s buying habits with an internationally operating ethical menswear company. Other than being the Founder and CEO, Maryam’s role expanded looking over various departments such as branding, customer acquisition, marketing, sales and strategy. During this time, she set up a website called Autopsy.io capturing lessons learnt from failed startups which went on to becoming a viral hit overnight, featuring her in top publications such as Bloomberg, Business Insider, The Next Web and Wall Street Journal. Throughout this whole period she experienced the life as a digital nomad by living away from London in Budapest, Barcelona and Berlin for over a year before returning to London to continue her path in tech. She was then appointed as Marketing Director at Department of Coffee and Social Affairs a publicly listed speciality coffee company. Subsequently, she was selected as a co-CEO heading their subsidiary called White Space providing co-working spaces to tech entrepreneurs in the UK. Maryam is currently looking into the developing markets through creating a startup called Rise Ventures which looks into bringing foreign investment into the middle eastern markets in particular looking at tech startups in Iran. The focus of the business is not just investment but to bring the right support and mentorship to help this growing generation of entrepreneurs the ability to make high-impact ventures.
