Liezl is a strong FinTech professional with experience in both Europe and APAC. Her interests in financial services, innovation and entrepreneurship can be traced back to her early years. She was handling her own ‘finances' at the age of 9 with her junior account and was meeting banking advisors by the age of 15 to compare the best banking offering. From the legal working age of 16, she started working multiple gigs and created small business ventures while studying to gain hands-on experience. She then interned in a pioneer insurance startup that shook the space in France with a fully digital offering where industry-standards were relying heavily on manual and paper processes. Following a stint in consulting firm to advise MNCs on strategic projects, she returned to the FS industry and joined the largest French banking group. During that time, the financial services industry was experiencing an unprecedented revolution led by technology and the shift towards a customer-centric approach. The rise of FinTech startups embodied her three areas of interests: financial services, innovation and entrepreneurship. She co-founded a Regulatory Technology company in Vietnam that automated more than 9,000+ banking regulatory reports to the State Bank of Vietnam, and provided consulting to local banks on digital transformation strategies and execution.
Today, she leads the business development in South East Asia of UK Fintech Pomelo Pay.
