Melbourne
After graduating with a Bachelor of Computer Science from Monash University, I started my first job in web development - building project and resource management applications at NRMS, a small company in South Yarra. Our main clients were various government organisations - Aboriginal Affairs, Parks Victoria and the 12 Catchment Managment Authorities within Victoria. While most of the products we built were private applications, we did build a few public facing sites, including one used for tracking flora and fauna across numerous locations around Australia.
Needing a bigger challenge, I moved to Fontis, a company specialising in retail websites powered by Magento, where I stayed for the next 5 years. During my time here, I worked on iconic brands, such as Quiksilver, Roxy, DC Shoes, Ted's Cameras and Bing Lee, doing everything from advanced server side caching, to Google Analytics implementations. In addition to the purely client based work, during my time at Fontis I contributed to numerous open source extensions, both owned by Fontis and also other people and companies in the Magento community.
In late 2014, I moved to IE Digital, initially as a tech lead in one of their Magento teams. My first project was the rebuild of the Sass and Bide website, a challenging project which produced a fantastic final product. During my time here I have worked across virtually all of the IE Magento clients including Sussan, Sportsgirl, Suzanne Grae and Drummond Golf. I also moved from being a team tech lead, to being one of the lead developers at IE, and most recently took the opportunity to broaden my skills into a completely new framework - Sitecore - which has allowed me to build engaging experiences for some of our biggest clients, such as APT and Toyota.
When not behind a keyboard, I enjoy playing my 6 brass musical instruments, reading all kinds of books and cooking interesting meals from different cultures across the world.
