Jason Serafica

Sr. Instructional Associate, General Assembly

San Francisco

Jason Serafica (they/them) is a full-stack software engineer, a community organizer, and an unapologetic advocate for under-represented communities in Tech. They have helped thousands of SF Bay Area residents learn web development and coding fundamentals at weekly meet-ups and on online study groups. At General Assembly, Jason has taught hundreds of Software Engineering Immersive students as an Instructional Associate, and their hands-on, straightforward, "tough love" approach has often been hailed as the "secret ingredient" in many students' successes in SEI and beyond. Many former students fondly recall Jason's personal investment and attention to each student's development.

Jason also co-organizes freeCodeCamp San Francisco, an open-source community of learners and developers in the Bay Area and all around the world. Jason also volunteers as a mentor and leadership team member in Out In Tech's youth mentorship program and has spoken on topics relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion in tech.
