Janie is an ex-journalist turned corporate marketer, now working as a content strategist who centres inclusivity in her work. Her writing principles are rooted in plain language and the belief that news should be accessible to everyone. After newsroom internships and magazine gigs, she left the reporting world and landed in asset management (of all places) working in content marketing at RBC. She focused on financial literacy, believing that everyone should be able to understand money and investing, and discovered the world of content strategy.
Currently, she’s the first content strategist at Loblaw Digital, supporting apps and websites for brands like Loblaws and President's Choice. Delving into microcopy, user experience and the place where language and design intersect on a daily basis. She advocates for inclusive design and encourages people to reframe how they think about accessibility. Fun fact: Loves fonts and puppies.
