James Nickerson

Director of Comms and PR, Dynamic Signal

James (Jim) started his marketing and communications career "running tapes" at CNN during the Gulf War, and has been communicating ever since. Jim is currently the Director of Communications & PR for Dynamic Signal, the leading employee engagement and advocacy platform.

In addition to extensive corporate communications and marketing experience, Jim spent three years as the Social Media manager for the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, the largest and first chorus of its kind. Jim built SFGMC’s program from scratch and created a fully robust social media platform, now modeled by other arts organizations around the world. He still works with SFGMC, speaking at national conferences about the power of communications and social media advocacy.

Jim was recently awarded the 2014 Leading Change Award from NTEN, the National Non-Profit Technology Network. The award is given annually to an outstanding individual whose leadership has made a significant contribution to positively change his organization, his community, and the sector.

Jim believes in a "Less Is More" strategy when it comes to Digital Marketing. Learning how to get the most done with limited resources and capacity, and looking fabulous while doing it, is at the core of his marketing strategies.

His recent clients include Symantec, Accenture, SFGMC, The National AIDS Memorial Grove, Academy of Friends, The Jean Henry School of Art, and the indie movie, "Transgender Tuesdays". Born in New York, he has lived in San Francisco for the last 12 years and sings with SFGMC and the Lollipop Guild, an SFGMC small ensemble. Likes include long walks on the beach, rainy days and Big Data. Dislikes include rainy days, false advertising and singing minor thirds.
