IN CONVERSATION WITH IURY LIBERATO:
What is your favorite technical skill to work with on your own projects and why?
My favourite technical skill to work with is JavaScript, particularly the React framework. I enjoy using React because it allows me to build clean, efficient, and scalable solutions, making development more organised and maintainable.
What is your favorite technical skill to teach to students and why?
My favourite technical skill to teach is fetching data from an API. It's a fundamental skill that developers will frequently use in the industry, and there are many reliable resources available for reference to support learning.
What is most important to you about teaching technical skills at General Assembly?
The most important thing to me about teaching technical skills at General Assembly is making sure students are ready to step into the industry with confidence. That means knowing how to tackle technical challenges, find the right resources and documentation, and problem-solve effectively. Just as important is learning to collaborate—being present, supporting their peers, and working as a team, just like they would in a real job.
What advice do you have for anyone looking to learn technical skills to reach new career goals?
My advice would be to stay persistent—learning technical skills can have its ups and downs, but every small win is worth celebrating. Don't get discouraged by challenges; instead, see them as part of the process. And remember, Google is your best friend when it comes to finding solutions and documentation!
What would you like to highlight about your experience in your technical domain outside of teaching?
I enjoy working with teams and being an approachable individual who actively listens, seeks to understand issues, and collaborates to find effective solutions.
