Homaxi Irani

General Manager and Head of CX (Australia), HeathWallace Australia

Melbourne

After an early career in advertising working for John Singleton, Homaxi’s digital design career began 16 years ago and she has been fortunate enough to work in a variety of company structures - corporate client environments, consultancies, and a highly successful 5-year stint freelancing direct to market. She has worked in boutique start up cultures and highly rigid corporate environments. This broad experience at both ends of the spectrum has allowed Homaxi to experience the world of design and UX from multiple lenses, enjoying a variety of challenges and opportunities in the world of customer centred design.

Originally working as a UX practitioner herself at HotHouse Interactive, then as a freelancer, and later at Sensis, the last 8 years have been focused on building and leading teams of Designers and UX practitioners in both corporate (Sensis) and consultancy (HeathWallace) companies. Managing a team of UX and Designers naturally lends itself to training, mentoring and nurturing practitioners in both the technical aspects of UX and design and also in the softer skills required to be successful as a practitioner.

Some of the brands that Homaxi has worked with include Yellow Pages, White Pages, ANZ, QBE Insurance, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Fairfax Digital, Bauer Media, Jetstar, Sydney Opera House, Australia Post Digital Mailbox, Air New Zealand, Bankstown City Council, Briar Ridge Vineyards, and NSW Parliament.

Homaxi can often be found lamenting the woes of poor user experiences. Examples of these are all too prevalent in every day interactions we all have with products and services, digital or not. Her favourite question is "why not?"
