    IN CONVERSATION WITH Freddie Grzybowski:

What is your favorite technical skill to work with on your own projects and why?

I’m especially passionate about user interface (UI) design. I enjoy working across different levels of fidelity, starting with rough wireframes and progressing to high-fidelity prototypes. There’s something incredibly rewarding about shaping visual experiences and then validating those designs through usability testing. Seeing how real users interact with a design and using that feedback to refine the experience is one of the most satisfying parts of my process.

What is your favorite technical skill to teach to students and why?

UI design is hands down my favourite skill to teach. I love watching students bring their ideas to life and seeing their confidence grow as their designs improve. Everyone develops their own style and approach over time, and it’s amazing to see that individuality come through in their work by the end of the course.

What is most important to you about teaching technical skills at General Assembly?

For me, it’s all about helping students build a strong foundation and really understand what they’re learning not just how to do something, but why it works. I want them to leave the course feeling confident, capable, and ready to apply their skills in the real world.

What advice do you have for anyone looking to learn technical skills to reach new career goals?

Practice, practice, and more practice! Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and don’t worry about making mistakes they’re a huge part of the learning process. Stay curious, be consistent, and keep pushing yourself a little further each time.
