Emily was raised in the Southwest, and has traveled throughout the world and lived abroad twice. These experiences, as well as her work as an award-winning journalist, publisher and writer (and occasional amateur set designer), give her an expanded sense of how people across cultures and time are influenced by language, story and art. She holds a master's degree in nonfiction writing and lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her three greatest accomplishments, her husband of 18 years, and her two daughters.
