    Professor Kua graduated as a doctor from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur and received his training in Psychiatry at Oxford University and Geriatric Psychiatry at Harvard University. He is a member of the WHO Research Team for the Global Study of Dementia and previously the Head of the Department of Psychological Medicine at NUS, and CEO and Medical Director at the Institute of Mental Health, Singapore.

    Prof Kua has also been invited by the United Nations in New York to address the world assembly on ‘Depression in Asia.’ He has written 22 books on psychiatry, stress, ageing and depression, including the novel, ‘Listening to Letter from America’, which is used in Harvard for a course on anthropology.
