Dr. Han Lau
Ph.D., Data Scientist, Full Stack Developer
Dr. Lau is a data scientist with a strong technology background. Previously, he worked in Microsoft e-Research centre and built a mobile sensing network, and then joined the Australian Institute of Future Environments to develop a Greenhouse Gas Analysis system. His Ph.D. research focuses on using machine learning and natural language processing techniques to analyze Twitter, which was adopted by Fairfax media for their in-house use. Dr. Lau has also been an in-house trainer on Big Data for companies such as Intel, HP, and Standard Chartered Scope International. He current leads the data science engineering team in HeroBoyfriend, a mobile app that makes boyfriends awesome.
