Hey there, I’m Derek Afriyie. I’m a Site Reliability Engineer at Aera Technology, an AI company transforming supply chain logistics for businesses worldwide. Born in Brooklyn and raised in The Bronx, I proudly carry both boroughs with me, as they’re woven into the fabric of who I am.
Now, before you, is a former chess and gymnastics coach—two roles that taught me strategy, patience, and how to land gracefully when life throws you a curveball. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working on cloud engineering teams at a small startup (Drata), a mid-size company (Pluralsight), and even a big player in the Fortune 500 world (Sony).
