Dallas was instrumental in developing the nonprofit Note in the Pocket, was a founding member of the Board of Directors and is the current Executive Director. Note in the Pocket provides clothing to homeless and impoverished students and families throughout Wake County, which encompasses 12 cities and towns. Wake County has the largest school district in North Carolina and the 15th largest in the nation. By educating the community of the best way to recycle their gently used clothing so that it can be redistributed locally, we are keeping hundreds of thousands of pounds of textiles out of our local landfill and providing comfort and confidence to local schoolchildren and families with dignity and love.
Note in the Pocket has provided mini-wardrobes of clothing and shoes to nearly 25,000 individuals since 2013. Our program has distributed over half a million items of donated clothing to be reused within our community valued at $4.5 million dollars.
