Charlene Tan is Associate Media Activation Director, APAC at Essence, a global data and measurement-driven media agency which is part of GroupM.
Based out of Singapore, Charlene currently oversees a team of digital marketers across social, display, search and reservation channels for a major gaming business in the region. She is also responsible for driving thought leadership and devising large-scale media strategies.
Charlene is passionate about helping brands grow through the use of advertising technology, rigorous testing and creativity. With over five years of media experience, she has served on multiple accounts ranging from gaming, to sports OTT and consumer apps across key markets in APAC.
In 2019, Charlene’s work leveraging voice API ads clinched ‘Best Video Campaign’ at ExchangeWire’s The Wires APAC Awards. In 2021, she participated as a speaker at General Assembly’s panel event ‘Break Into Digital Marketing’, sharing her views on the industry. Her opinion piece on live streaming advertising,"Finding the right fit for livestreaming advertising and mitigating brand safety risk", was featured on Marketing Interactive.
Charlene is an accountancy graduate from Singapore Management University. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring nature and neighbourhoods on her bike, and picking up new languages.
