Cassandra is a Torres Strait Island woman who grew up in Millmerran on the Darling Downs, she is the oldest of four children in her family of origin and has an older brother who she connected within her late 30’s. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts.
She is committed to increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people engaged and STEM education and employment and has an interest in Indigenist Research approaches and methods and their application to STEM education.
Cassandra currently manages the Young Indigenous Women’s STEM Academy at CSIRO and employs seven Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to deliver the Academy program. Cassandra has worked in a range of sectors including: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs, community development, child protection, Indigenous housing, community engagement and working with young people.
She also has extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and undertaking program management and service delivery roles.
