Ashley Carter loves wondering why and how: teasing these questions out and even creating new environments where she can work on solving them. Originally from the Bay area, she navigated east to major in Fine Art and Art History at George Washington University. But wishing she’d found a design program there, too, Ashley rejected the professor track in favor of teaching herself the tools and skills she needed to land a design internship. It paid off, and she joined Fathom Creative in D.C. as a graphic designer.
But while Ashley worked in print, her hobby was web design. And while she worked in web design, she took on code. Finally, during her short stint coding, she found UX. Ashley knows she’s in the right spot with UX – a broad, multi-faceted field that continues to pique her interest more than others. She especially likes being an eyewitness to the evolution of technology and how people interact with it.
Having lived in Colorado for a few years now, Ashley loves being a part Denver’s thriving tech and design community. And now that she has found her perfect fit in UX, she’s looking for a bona fide hobby – maybe cooking or photography. Suggestions are welcome.
