About this event

The author of the illustrated history book WOMEN IN SCIENCE presents the stories of 6 notable women who in their own way revolutionized science, technology, engineering, or mathematics; each having significantly changed their fields while also fearlessly creating their own opportunities in spite of sexism, racism, or classism. The author will then discuss why she wrote this book, including statistics on the gender gap in STEM fields today, why gender bias is such a problem, and what we can do to empower young women to follow their passions. A trained graphic designer, the author will draw connections between the worlds of art and tech, and argue for the power of illustration as a powerful education tool that can inspire learning.
