Nearly six million young Americans between the ages of 16 to 24 are out of school and out of work – a group known as “Opportunity Youth”. This often leaves youth without the work experience and post-secondary credentials needed to find employment, at a great cost to the individual youth, local communities, and the country.
The good news, according to an analysis by the Bridgespan Group, is that nearly six million entry-level jobs will be created from 2012 to 2022 that don’t require a college degree.
To help fill this gap, companies and nonprofit organizations around the country have stepped up to provide the necessary training and mentoring to help Opportunity Youth find their way.
