Get a handle on programming fundamentals and development tools that can be used across all programming languages to set yourself up for success before getting started in web development or working with developers.
In this workshop, you’ll get acquainted with the tools, resources, and fundamental skills that can help you get started in any programming language, as well has how to communicate with and manage developers. You’ll learn to explain how data is manipulated and sent across the internet as you build Ruby scripts and a simple web application. You’ll find out how to understand and utilize error messages, as well as using Git and GitHub to share and work with source code.
If you've thought about beginning a career in web development, or are hoping to work more effectively with developers, this class is a great first step.
This program is intended for beginners, so no prior experience is required, but we recommend that you come prepared! If you have no working knowledge of the terminal, we strongly recommend that you work through this command line tutorial. If you have no working knowledge of HTML/CSS, we strongly recommend that you complete Project 1 in Dash.
