We're throwing a VR party, and you get to play with all of the newest VR gadgets and toys. Hear from some of the city's biggest VR experts and get your hands (eyes and ears) on the goods! We'll hear about how VR is changing various industries and the future of it's capabilities.
We'll also have headsets for you to play with to experience the technology, and our partners at Austin VR Lab Experience will be GIVING AWAY 5 HEADSETS!
Austin VR Lab, LLC
Born in Columbia, South Carolina Mohammed moved to Austin when he was 5 years old and after 12 years of local public education and 2 years at the University of Texas at Arlington Mohammed entered the world of entrepreneurship. On his list of ventures includes a variety of accomplishments and failures. From hosting night life events to managing an energy conservation company along with managing artists and musicians he's touched many industries. His most current endeavor Austin VR LaB, LLC focuses on consumer VR education, providing VR experiences, and the production of VR content.
VR Architect / Founder at Ghost Machine,
Mr. Nellans has over 18 years of professional game making experience. After Graduating with a BFA in Computer Animation from the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, Mr. Nellans was immediately recognized for his work in Animation by being awarded the 1998 Gold Medal Academy Award for his Animated short entitled, “Jataka” later earning the Digital Cinematography Scholarship from the Hollywood visual effects studio Rhythm and Hues, where he also interned.
Following his initial introduction in the film industry, Mr. Nellans was approached by Steven Spielberg to work first at Dreamworks SKG and then Electronic Arts on an Original WWII video game which later became known as Medal of Honor. He continued to work on the first three Medal of Honor titles developing 3D environments and multiplayer level design. Mr. Nellans is currently VR Architect at Mutual Mobile, an emerging tech agency that develops breakthrough digital applications for a more connected world.
Matthew Nowacki has been developing games in his hometown of Austin, TX for the last 6 years. He most recently was a designer on ReCore for Armature Studio -- he's also previously helped with design for Junction Point Studios on the Disney Epic Mickey series and programming for Hellfire Games on the PlayStation platform. Matthew is an avid follower of the Austin VR scene and can't wait to help bring this evolutionary new medium to mainstream audiences.
Phaser Lock Interactive
Autumn Taylor is the Media Director for Phaser Lock Interactive, an Austin-based virtual reality video game development company. The company recently launched their first game, Final Approach, for the HTC Vive and Oculus Touch with planned Playstation VR support. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Public Relations and concentration in Advertising with TexasMedia. She has worked with a broad range of technology clients and found her place in the virtual reality industry through her involvement with personal game development and the Austin indie game community. In addition to her work with Phaser Lock Interactive, she is also an organizer for VR Austin and contributes to local VR community-building efforts, advocating for women and diversity in the video game and virtual reality industries.
Austin VR Lab is a collective of Virtual and Augmented Reality creators, developers and operators. We are focused on creating and developing VR and AR content while bringing people the latest devices to experience Virtual Worlds. We develop both Public and Private VR/AR content for a variety of needs that include but are not limited to Commissioned Art, Commercial Advertising, Training Simulations and mobile Virtual Reality arcades. Our Team is dedicated to finding the right VR/AR content and experiences to fit your needs and aid in the development of your Virtual Estates.
Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality are coming to market in a big way. While the gaming applications of these technologies are obvious, we want to explore how else they can be used. VR will have a huge impact on training, education, communication, therapy, data visualization & analysis, and other areas we haven't even identified yet.
