    About this class

Storytelling is essential for the success of your brand—whether you are an innovative tech-driven company or a social enterprise, telling your story the right way is essential in building a strong brand. That's where visual storytelling comes in—it will help you develop a distinct visual language to communicate your values and your service or product. It can also guide you in asking the right questions for your art director and creative team to get the best possible story for your brand.

    Takeaways

    In this class, students will:

    • learn storytelling principles and its applications to branding
    • gain analysis skills to recognise and critically judge a brand identity success
    • learn how to keep visual consistency through all of their media assets (social media, printed material, etc.)
    • be introduced to rules for sketching and paper-prototyping in order to have a clear idea before commissioning a visual/creative work
    • get to know how to charge for and what to expect from creative studios (graphic design/animation)

    Prereqs & Preparation

This class is aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs or small to mid-sized CEOs and project/marketing managers who want a better grasp over the look and feel of their brand and freelance graphic/visual designers who want to expand their set of skills into visual storytelling. No previous experience is needed, but knowledge of basic marketing principles and love for your brand (or for branding in general) will be helpful—the basics of storytelling is that you have to care about the story you are telling.

Preparation: Please bring pen and paper. If you have some brands/campaigns of example you want to analyse (yours or that you particularly admire) feel free to bring some images/samples and we'll look at them together.
