About This Workshop
As technology changes and more outlets compete for customers’ time online, providing an enjoyable experience is critical to both attracting and keeping users. User experience design is all about solving real problems for real users — and how to do so effectively and creatively.
This hands-on UX design bootcamp will take absolute beginners through the entire UX design process in one day. Gain a practical introduction to core UX and UI design concepts and tools in a UX designer’s toolkit and apply them to real-world examples. You’ll leave with tangible user experience design deliverables to showcase what you’ve learned.
General Assembly’s classes, workshops & events are for recreational purposes and are not regulated by the bureau of proprietary school supervision.
If this class is recorded, students will be sent the recording link within 7 days after class completion by email. Students are encouraged to download and save any shared materials (worksheets, deck if applicable) during class for later reference as they are not be shared by email.
- Practice UX methods and strategies that lead to successful design solutions
- Define how UX design fits into your team’s workflow.
- Leverage knowledge of UX design and UI design terminology, useful tips, and UX designer resources for work projects.
- Produce user experience design deliverables such as wireframes, prototypes, and usability test reports.
- Advance your collaboration and ideation skills.
You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection.
This class will occur completely online using Zoom.
Class setup information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) your class launches.

About the Instructor
Sofia conducted her first user interview on her sisters at 9 years old when her parents gave her first dual deck recorder with a microphone. She has since fell in love with researching and interviewing people to discover their core needs and beliefs across various careers such as Counseling, Sales, Marketing and ultimately User Experience (UX) Research and Design Strategy. Sofia has worked with as well as managed teams to provide service to over 100+ national and international clients across the Entertainment, Financial, Government, Marketing, Non-Profit, Retail and Tech industries. Some of her previous clients have included BP/Arco, Cisco, HP, Heineken USA, National Restaurant Association, Wellington Management, One97 (India), Cisneros Media (Venezuela) and lifetime clients: her own mom and dad. Her leadership/training philosophy, "guide the heart vs. manage the mind," has helped her gain repeat business from her clients as well as earn the respect of her peers. When Sofia's not working, she's out dancing, hiking in the woods, enjoying improv comedy, trekking back to her Chicago hometown or concocting wireframes at a local hackathon.
In recognition of her exemplary service in the classroom, Sofia has been selected as a member of General Assembly's Distinguished Faculty program.
