At this monthly event series, we host thought-leaders from the Los Angeles data community to discuss the possibilities that data brings to life. They’ll cover how today’s wealth of data drives business and product decisions across a range of industries, and share their visions for the future.
This month we have Apryl Boyle, a Scientist Entrepreneur and a GA Alum. Her work is focused on shark population data and investigating the roles of human-shark interactions. She’s been featured on Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, National Geographic, and other international print and digital media.
What You’ll Take Away: Learn how you can leverage data in your role — no matter the industry. Data doesn’t have to be frightening or intimidating and Apryl will give you tangible, actionable tips that you can use immediately in your business, whether you’re a scientist, closet organizer, life coach, etc. with easily accessible tools. She’s determined to assure everyone leaves with at least one new idea, if not a new appreciation for utilizing data in your work. Of course, she’ll spend a few moments showing pictures and video from her international travels that show her in the water with blue sharks, white tips, nurse sharks, and massive great whites!
Why It Matters: Data is everywhere, and it affects not only how we run our businesses, but how we live as individuals. Understanding the ways you can leverage data in your personal and professional life can help you find key insights, make smarter decisions, and elevate your career. The sooner you harness the power of data in your everyday life, the sooner you’ll benefit.
