About this event

Riddle me this: What do a wicked pair of skis, the latest & greatest social media app, and a groundbreaking automation platform have in common? Well, from our perspective, all three are built by successful designers and product managers.

Here at GA, we often talk about product management and user experience design in terms of tech products — wireframing, agile software development, usability testing. But all those same principles of Design Thinking and product management apply not only for tech products but also for products you can touch, hold, and feel.

On Wednesday, October 4th we are going to consider the similarities and differences in the role of design and product management in creating physical products - specifically, outdoor gear.

Let’s think through:

  • Where do product ideas come from?
  • How is the product management process implemented?
  • What do designers in the outdoor industry focus on?
  • What is the priority in gear design? Safety? Functionality? Aesthetic?
  • How can we take what we learn from physical product designers & pms, and apply that to tech?
  • </ul?

Join us for a panel event with industry leaders, designers, and product managers to learn more about how the outdoor gear industry manages their product development cycle through invention, prototyping, and testing. From bicycle geometry to shoelaces to weather proof apparel, learn how the industry designs & builds some of our favorite products.
