About This Class

Whether you are speaking to an entire company or a few clients, your presentation skills establish your credibility and impact. This hands-on workshop focuses on how to engage your audience and deliver your message with confidence, conviction, and clarity. Through a series of exercises using drama techniques, participants will learn about how to use their voice and body more effectively in front of an audience. There will be a series of group, pair and individual exercises. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have actionable strategies for leveraging strengths and addressing challenge areas when delivering presentations, as well as exercises to help tackle nerves.

General Assembly’s classes, workshops & events are for recreational purposes and are not regulated by the bureau of proprietary school supervision.

If this class is recorded, students will be sent the recording link within 7 days after class completion by email. Students are encouraged to download and save any shared materials (worksheets, deck if applicable) during class for later reference as they are not be shared by email.

Preparation

  • You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection.
  • This class will occur completely online using Zoom.
  • Class setup information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) your class launches.
  • Each individual class participant must have purchased a ticket.

Shahier Rahman is the partnerships specialist for General Assembly DC. He was previously the regional business development manager for DC incubator and venture fund 1776. Before moving to DC, Shahier co-founded Central Florida's first tech incubator, Canvs. When he's not connecting startups with political, intellectual, social and financial capital in Washington, DC, you can find him doing stand-up comedy in dive bars around town.
