About this workshop series

Designing a portfolio is more than just showing comps and crossing fingers. It involves the same strategy and underlying mechanics of any other business. Students will learn about what makes a portfolio compelling for employers. In the first session, the instructor will showcase examples of both good and not so good and give explanations for why one design would be more successful than another.

Students will use their own backgrounds to craft a compelling story about why they are a unique designer. Students will identify their ideal company they'd love to work for and perform research on what that company is looking for and how their background might make them a great fit.

Students will design their portfolio (using Squarespace or however they like), thinking of and targeting the messaging to their ideal company. In the second session student work will be critiqued and refined. By the end of class, students will have a portfolio that they are proud of and ready to use!
