An increasing number of companies are delivering learning and training via smartphones and mobile devices. Designing learning for a small screen and for a mobile learner is challenging and needs a specific approach and skill set to be effective.
Currently most companies do a poor job of designing mobile content and typically use the same content they do for desktop and online learning which results in a sub-optimal experience for the learner. Learning for mobile delivery must be designed differently taking into account screen size, usage time frames, and context.
Students will learn how to created well-designed, effective, and engaging mobile learning content. They will begin by analyzing learner needs and using these needs to inform the design of mobile content. They will learn content design, graphic usage, as well as navigation and UX design considerations for optimum learning design. They will also learn how to convert online learning content to mobile content.
They will learn how to design their own mobile learning content from initial brainstorming through storyboarding to a finished prototype design.
