About this workshop series

Rails lets developers build powerful web applications quickly, but many first-time learners focus the majority of their attention on Rails, missing an opportunity to build strong Ruby foundations that are vital in the later stages of Rails mastery. This workshop focuses on "just" Ruby, with an eye towards the features that make Rails both possible and powerful. Beginners who want to start their learning with a solid foundation or students already learning Rails who want to bolster their understanding of the underlying technologies are encouraged to participate.

We will cover:

  • Ruby fundamentals (data structures, program design)
  • Object Oriented Programming idioms (the use of classes and objects)
  • The basics of web applications

Prereqs & Preparation
