Bias manifests as everything from micro-aggressions (e.g. a colleague telling an unintentionally offensive joke at the expense of a person or group) to a systemic and pervasive lack of inclusion. While we can’t deny the role of governments in dismantling inequality and restructuring systems that allow it to perpetuate, each of us has an equally important role in this. The first step to that end is to show up as an “ally”.
Being an “ally” is more than a label. It’s about being willing to act with and for others in pursuit of creating equality. We can start by recognizing certain privileges some of us receive, take responsibility and break the current patterns. By doing so, we help level the playing field by creating and fostering more inclusive and fair environments.
Join our panel as we discuss actionable steps you can take to become an effective ally and change-maker!
