Not sure where to start? This free, 2-hour workshop is for you. We’ll cover the basics of defining and understanding data and the differences between data scientists, analysts, and engineers. Then, dive into navigating a dataset in Excel and learn to ask the right questions to tell a story with your data.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be ready for next week’s session where you’ll learn how to Clean and Prepare Your Data to get it ready for analysis. We’ll see you there.


You’ll leave this workshop knowing:

  • How to define data, and identify different data types and formats
  • The difference between a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, and Data Engineer
  • Basic navigation of Excel spreadsheets
  • How to ask the right questions of your data
  • How to follow the data analysis workflow at GA

Prereqs & Preparation

  • This is an entry level workshop, so no prior knowledge is necessary.
  • You’ll need an Excel account if you are planning to follow-along live. If you don’t have one already, you can sign-up for a Free 1-Month Trial of Microsoft 365
  • If anything prevents you from following-along live, the recording will be shared after the series so you can review the content anytime.
  • Your mic and camera will be off for the duration of the workshop.
  • Interact with your instructor and fellow classmates through the Chat and Q&A.
