About the Presenters

Alec - Equity Mates Photo

Co-Founder,
Equity Mates Investing Podcast

Alec, 26, is lazy. If there’s an easy way and a hard way to do something – Alec probably won’t do it. Which is why investing is perfect for him. Buying an ownership stake in a company that employs staff to make their shareholders more money, that’s a pretty good deal. So Alec bought his first shares in 2013, choosing the law firm Slater + Gordon. Within a year that investment had lost 99% of its value and Alec had learnt a few lessons along the way. Now a little warier, but just as lazy, Alec dreams of being able to quit his job and live off the hard work of others (and the dividends they produce). He’s a Sydney Swans fan, one of the few that will argue that Buddy was a bargain, and he hopes Equity Mates helps explain the importance of investing early and the joys of compounding returns.

Bryce - Equity Mates Photo

Co-Founder,
Equity Mates Investing Podcast

Bryce has had an interest in the stock market ever since his parents encouraged him to save 50c a fortnight from the age of 5, to put towards shares. When he finally saved $500 he bought his first share – BKI – a Listed Investment Company, and since then hasn’t stopped. He hopes that Equity Mates can really help make investing understandable and accessible, and not something that is scary and put in the 'too-hard' basket. He's incredibly passionate about spreading the love for investing - it's a life skill that everyone should have. He holds a Bachelor of Business, is an Essendon Football Club fanatic, and lives in Sydney.

About Our Partners

Finimize

It all started when we had some savings ourselves and couldn’t figure out what to do with them. Everyone tells you to budget and save. But no one tells you what to do after that. You know you should be doing something smart with your money, but who do you listen to? You’ve read about cryptocurrencies, researched robo advisors but when it came down to it, you didn't feel confident in handing over your money. A financial advisor could help you, but you either don’t trust them or can’t afford to pay them.

We dare to envisage a world where you don’t need a financial advisor – much as you no longer need a travel agent thanks to the likes of Expedia. Just as you do with films, restaurants and hotels, we see a world where you consult an independent platform before making any financial decision.

Refund Policy

We understand that, sometimes, plans change. If you can no longer make it to a class or workshop, please email us at least 7 days before the scheduled event date. No refunds will be given to cancellations made within a week of the class or workshop.
