About this workshop

Join Facebook's Product Design Manager for the new Facebook Home product as he shares how he and his team use Quartz Composer, Apple's freely available graphics tool, to design highly-interactive mobile applications. This class will be a 1 hour lecture on Quartz Composer (QC) followed by a 1 hour interactive workshop where you will make your own first composition.

Prereqs & Preparation

This is a class ideal for current or aspiring User Experience (UX) Designers, designers at start-ups, and web designers. An understanding of user experience or web design is suggested but not required.

Required class materials / software: – Students need to bring their laptops (Mac is required)

– Students need to download and install Quartz Composer and Kineme plugins:

  1. Sign up for a free Apple Developer account at http://developer.apple.com

  2. Download and install the "Graphics Tools for Xcode" package from http://www.developer.apple.com/downloads

  3. Download and install the KinemeCore, DataTools and FileTools custom plugins from http://www.kineme.net
