Join SPARK Boston + GA for a Chief Chat with Boston’s first Chief of Education Rahn Dorsey, BPL President David Leonard, + New Urban Mechanics’ Civic Research Director Kim Lucas.
Why It Matters?
Boston has some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country (and there’s a few household names across the river, too). But our city is also home to many other educational opportunities that, for many Bostonians, are favorite hidden gems. Whether you’re new to the Hub or a born-and-bred Bostonian, there’s plenty to explore to advance your career, learn a new skill, pick up a second (or third!) language, and more.
With these resources and opportunities in mind, Mayor Walsh hired Boston’s first ever Chief of Education Rahn Dorsey and challenged him to connect these many pieces, supporting a lifelong learning environment for all residents. Chief Dorsey is aided in this effort by BPL President David Leonard, who is leading efforts to expand and innovate what resources and opportunities our libraries offer and how. New Urban Mechanics’ Civic Research Director Kim Lucas has been a hands-on leader in the creation of Boston’s Children Savings Accounts, a new initiative aimed at supporting young people in their post-high school learning. Join SPARK Boston and these three city leaders for a peek at the future of learning in our city.
