About this event

In honor of Earth Day 2021, let's cook together and learn how to promote sustainable food systems in our home kitchens! Join, The People's Club, a social community in Chicago, and Hungry Hangouts, a virtual cooking company, for a two-hour cooking class/educational session with tips and track on eating sustainably through the seasons.

Our chef/instructor will be Delaney Workman. Delaney is a professionally trained chef that has worked in kitchens around Boston and Chicago. She studied at Ireland's renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School under the instruction of Darina Allen, receiving Certificates in Culinary Arts and Wine, has a Master's Certificate in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems from Tufts University, and Bachelor's from George Washington University in International Food Security. Delaney believes a comprehensive, well-rounded education is necessary to sustainably plant, harvest, cook, and feed, and spent a year volunteering on organic farms in Europe and the US. She can often be found feeding friends and family and is thrilled to share her knowledge and expertise with the General Assembly community.

Prereqs & Preparation

Attendees will receive guided culinary instruction for recipes highlighting local, seasonal produce, and will receive resources for how to get involved with community partners promoting sustainability practices. For those cooking along, a detailed grocery list will be sent one week prior to the session.
