About this event

In November 2012, Travis County taxpayers passed Proposition 1, which raised funds to support a medical school at the University of Texas at Austin, along with a number of other health initiatives. The vote represented the linchpin for a broader effort to create the medical school, a new teaching hospital being built by the Seton Healthcare Family to replace the aging University Medical Center-Brackenridge, and to help improve the delivery of care in Travis County, especially for vulnerable residents who lack insurance or can’t afford care. As part of that effort, the Design Institute for Health was established, as a collaboration between the newly-formed Dell Medical School and the College of Fine Arts, to apply creative design methodologies to the development of a model for a new value-based healthcare system.

Join us to learn more about the Design Institute for Health, its priorities, and the needs it’s identified for the residents of Travis County from the Executive Director of the Institute, Stacey Chang. The session will include a collaborative session to discuss potential solutions to those needs, as well as contributions from MedicineX ePatient scholars.
