    About this event

    The Vision Zero Hackathon aims to catalyze dialog about transportation safety and allow residents to analyze and hack new information and data to offer new perspectives. The resultig ideas and tools will be used to help achieve the Vision Zero end goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths in the District by 2024.

    Prior to the event, DDOT will make new data sets available online to public partners. Participants will be able to view, analyze and manipulate analyze the information before the in-person event.

    The District will publish 3 new data sets, with records from about 2010 - 2014:

    • Crash Data
    • Moving Violations
    • Parking Violations
    • During the event, participants will brainstorm and code their way to fresh insights about transportation safety, using newly released open data on traffic crashes and enforcement.

      The hackathon will convene diverse groups to analyze information and exchange ideas, ultimately showcasing new insights and data visualizations, apps, and GIS analysis to senior city officials.
