About This Workshop

“Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.” - John Maxwell

Leadership is no longer about telling people what to do, it’s about empowering them to be their best selves.

So, how can you bring out the best in your people?

In this highly experiential workshop, we’ll show how you can build a collaborative leadership practice through three critically important tools: psychological safety, radically honest feedback and powerful one-to-one conversations.

  • Part 1: Psychological Safety is the Foundation for Collaborative Leadership

The best leaders create a culture where people feel safe, where they can truly show their deepest and most authentic selves (even the dark, ugly and non-Instagrammable sides) to work, where they can challenge authority, speak truth to power, experiment, play, fail and make mistakes.

Melissa will share memorable soulful stories, practical tips and tools to create a culture of psychological safety, so you can bring out the voices of every single member of your team.

  • Part 2: Feedback is More Important Than an MBA

We know feedback can be powerful than an MBA, but why is it so hard to give and receive?

Fear. We’re afraid of being honest. We’re afraid of hurting people and breaking trust.

Building off the principles of Radical Candor — an approach to feedback inspired by former Google executive Kim Scott (who Melissa had the chance to interview!) - we’ll hold emotional space for you to explore your fears and battle scars from hard-to-hear feedback. Transforming fear into action, we’ll share a simple yet powerful framework for receiving and giving difficult feedback to your teammates.

  • Part 3: A good 1:1 conversation can change your life

You’ve probably heard of 1:1s, but how you can you transform them into powerful conversations that actually inspire and grow your people?

Building off her practice as an Executive Coach and the principles of the Coaching Training Institute (where Melissa got her start), we’ll share tried-and-tested learnings and simple, yet powerful exercises for have deeply impactful conversations with your team.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop experience is for leaders who are just starting their journey or want to brush up on their skills, particularly for those who are passionate about their development and those of others. This workshop is not for you if you’ve done extensive training, reading or coaching on management or leadership development.

Melissa is a believer in out-and-proud vulnerability and encourages you to bring your whole self -- your stories, insecurities, fears, ambitions, challenges.

Takeaways

With all her workshops, Melissa aspires to create a safe, vulnerable and creative space where you can build practical emotional skills, tools and practices to:

  • Design a psychologically safe team culture
  • Give and receive tough-to-hear feedback
