About This Class

Pop quiz: How useful is dirty data?

If you answered, "Not at all," you got it right. Now that you’ve that basic principle down, it’s time to clean and prepare your data for analysis.

This free, two-hour session will teach you best practices for handling null values and cleaning your data for analysis, then give you hands-on practice using basic formulas and functions like trim, text, average, and count to make sure your data sparkles.

Don't miss our next session where you’ll get practice with Hands-on Excel Analytics. We’ll take your freshly cleaned dataset and begin analysis using popular methods like PivotTables and VLOOKUP to start to develop insights into what the data is saying. We’ll see you there.

Takeaways

  • Learn common data cleaning actions like reformatting dates, removing duplicates, and combining data sources.
  • Practice applying basic Excel functions and formulas like trim, text, average, count, and more to get your data ready for analysis.

Preparation

  • This is a beginner-friendly series, so no prior knowledge is necessary.
  • You’ll need an Excel account if you’re planning to follow along live. If you don’t have one already, you can sign up for a Free 1-Month Trial of Microsoft 365. Keep in mind, this part is optional.
  • A recording of this session will be sent via email at the end of the full Skill Seeker series.
  • This session will be held in a Zoom webinar, so your mic and camera will be off. We’ll interact through the chat, Q&A, and reactions.
