About this class

So, you’ve explored the basics of coding, but want some hands-on experience actually writing code to help you decide if this is something you really want to do? That makes sense.

This free, 2-hour session is the perfect place to get your feet wet – or in this case, your hands – with HTML & CSS. After a quick review of these languages, follow along live and learn and apply the basics HTML & CSS like paragraphs, headers, attributes, colors, fonts, and more, to create a custom, working website - from scratch. Yes. You can do that.

Once you have a foundation with HTML & CSS, make sure to join us tomorrow where we’ll take your coding skills to the next level and get hands-on practice with JavaScript Basics.

Takeaways

  • Learn the basics of HTML and CSS and what they’re used for.
  • Hands-on practice building a simple, working web page using basic HTML & CSS syntax.
  • Experience with the building blocks (HTML & CSS) to expand to more programming languages like JavaScript and Python.

Prereqs & Preparation

  • This is a beginner friendly series, so no prior knowledge is necessary.
  • If you plan to code-along live, make sure you have a free Codepen account. Keep in mind, this part is optional.
  • A recording of every session from Coding Week will be shared within a few business days after the week’s end.
  • This session will be held in a Zoom webinar, so your mic and camera will be off. We’ll interact through the Chat, Q&A, and reactions.
