Just Launched: Revamped Software Engineering Bootcamp Experience

By

You’re looking for an engaging career in technology — work that’s interesting and fulfilling, pay that helps you meet financial goals, and a day-to-day schedule that fits your life.

Consider software engineering.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor predicts that software engineering employment will grow by 25% from 2022 to 2032. Will you join the ranks?

At General Assembly, we’re dedicated to educating the next generation of software engineers — because you don’t need a college degree to succeed in this exciting, evolving field. You just need the right skills, up-to-date training, and hands-on experience with everyday tools. That’s what employers are looking for.

To help you accelerate your path to your first software engineering job, we’ve revamped our Software Engineering Bootcamp experience with a cutting-edge curriculum upgrade, fresh video content, a state-of-the-art learning management system, plus the freedom of two schedule options.

What’s New in General Assembly’s Software Engineering Bootcamp?

  • Updated Curriculum: Our content has been updated and organized in a way that empowers instructors to tailor every lesson and unit to students’ needs. General Assembly software engineering instructors have invaluable real-world experience in the field, and now they’re better equipped to adjust curriculum based on what their cohort needs to focus on.
  • Improved Video Experience: High-value, quick-hit video lessons help you focus. It’s easy to find targeted content and zero in on a single topic at a time. Stay engaged and earn that feeling of accomplishment of learning something new — faster.
  • Flexible Schedule Options: Opt for the Full-Time 12-Week Bootcamp or our new Part-Time 32-Week Bootcamp, an ideal option when you work full-time and need built-in flexibility while you learn. Which one is best for you? Find out here.
  • New Learning Management System: Log into a new, streamlined platform that makes it simple and clear to navigate to what you need to do next.

A Day in the Life: What It’s Like to Join Our Software Engineering Bootcamp

In the typical student’s daily routine, the first step often involves glancing at their calendar to map out the day ahead. Students can just click on the calendar event and they’re directed to their scheduled labs or lessons.

Each day is a unique blend of live sessions, pre-recorded videos, interactive labs, and engaging activities. To ensure a balanced schedule, students receive an hour for lunch to relax, refuel, and step away from the screen for a bit.

During lab sessions, students have the option to collaborate with peers via Zoom or work independently. For video lectures, the flexibility of playback allows students to revisit lessons at their convenience, with the added convenience of pausing to absorb content at their own pace. If any questions come up, the instructional team is readily available through Slack for help.

Live lectures also offer an interactive platform where students can pose questions and engage with their peers in a group setting, fostering a dynamic learning environment.

How to Get Started

Our Software Engineering Bootcamp transforms non-technical students and talent into full-stack engineering or similar roles. Students will gain a solid base of fundamental programming, computer science knowledge, and experience with languages, frameworks, and libraries that industries demand.

You can get in touch with the Admissions team to learn more about what it takes to successfully enroll and graduate with a Software Engineering Certificate — we’re happy to help guide you in the right next steps.

You can also attend a free class to get a sense of what it’s like to learn the basics of software engineering — it’s a great introduction to the topics you’ll encounter in your bootcamp.

If you want to dive a little deeper before you commit, you can also sign up for a workshop. Get a bit more hands-on and interact with classmates and an instructor. You can apply the cost of the workshop towards your bootcamp enrollment.

Note: New Software Engineering Bootcamp updates are not currently available for Singapore-based learners.

Disclaimer: General Assembly referred to their Bootcamps and Short Courses as “Immersive” and “Part-time” courses respectfully and you may see that reference in posts prior to 2023.
