As a senior at Vanderbilt, Whitley co-founded The Curbside Chronicle, an international award-winning magazine that employs individuals experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma City. In 2017, Whitley co-founded his second social enterprise, Sasquatch Shaved Ice, a snow cone business that provides employment, life skills training, and financial empowerment to transition-aged youth.
In January, Whitley took a new position as a Social Enterprise Strategist for the Homeless Alliance, focusing on developing new opportunities and growing existing programs. In April, Whitley will help launch a new social enterprise hub in Oklahoma City, including the opening of Curbside Flowers – a full-service flower shop employing individuals transitioning out of homelessness – and a social enterprise incubation space.
